TASA Welcomes a Delegation of Tsinghua University Students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan of the “Traveling and Reading to Know China” Practice Branch for the Cognition of National Conditions

The event is organized for the “Traveling and Reading to Know China” theme activity initiated by Tsinghua University. It aims to help young students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan learn about the current conditions of industry development and cultural inheritance of Qingdao in Shandong Province to feel the great impacts on people’s life brought by the development of the times, drive their passion of patriotism, and let them continue to work hard for the great course of building a strong country and national rejuvenation. Recently, students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan went to Qingdao West Coast New Area for research, together with XU Mingyong, Director of the Publicity Department of Tsinghua University and Leader of the Practice Branch, and TIAN Wenjing, Deputy Director of the Campus-City Integration Promotion Department of Qingdao West Coast New Area Talent Recruitment Center. During the visit to TASA, the leaders, including WANG Jiansong, Professor of the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University and Deputy Director of TASA, LU Yang, Researcher of the Strategy Institute of “Belt and Road” of Tsinghua University, and LIU Weidong, Secretary of Party Branch and Assistant to the Dean of TASA, went together with the visitors and introduced the current status of TASA and the experience in advancing the integration of production and education to empower the development of Qingdao.

Firstly, the students visited the Art and Science Experience Center for several major theme exhibitions, such as the International Art Works Exhibition themed on “Where Art Meets Science · A Better Future Created”, the Excellent Works Exhibition of the Global Sportswear Design Award, and the Exhibition on Health, Well-being and Senior-friendly Design, to get closely involved with the relation between art and technology and between art and science, and to feel the innovation potential brought by interdisciplinary and cross-field development in the new condition integrated with arts and sciences.

The students then visited the Design Laboratory of the International Industrial Research Department for the special exhibition themed “Sowing and Sprouting, Ripening and Harvesting—Special Exhibition for the Anniversary of the Founding of the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University”. LIU Weidong focused on introducing the historical inheritance of the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, and the accomplishments of TASA in promoting campus-city integration to empower local industry upgrading.

The visitors said that via the research activities, they have gained further insights into the economic, social, and cultural development of the nation, and they would work constantly to utilize their advantages and make contributions to the high-quality economic and social development of China.

WANG Jiansong welcomed the students. He encouraged them to grow up with the motherland and live up to the times while going out of the classrooms, actively participating in social research activities, and practicing with their knowledge to feel the grand land of the motherland. He also proposed that they should set up the life goal of realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation as their own duty, and forge ahead to constantly strive to undertake the due obligations as a member of Tsinghua University.

LIU Weidong underlined that TASA is committed to supporting local economic, social, and cultural development by promoting interdisciplinary integration and innovation and engaging in research in the fields of science and technology, humanities and social sciences, and art and design. When the students visited TASA, they brought about more possibilities for TASA to carry out cross-regional and cross-field cooperation and exchanges and also provided a sound opportunity for TASA to condense extensive advantages of Tsinghua University to better support high-quality development of the city.
